Where do they come from?
Reusable bags, you delightful little life-savers! I went hunting for a small one today — a neat, compact one to tuck inside my bike panniers. Yesterday I peddled out with art supplies along the Algonquin Trail to do some painting. What I really wanted was a small bag that I could pull out easily as my panniers are very securely attached to the bike.
So today’s quest was: the perfect bag for my next ride and sketch.
Sketch I did along the Algonquin Trail. Oops, It’s not the Transcanada Trail.
I knew we had a supply of bags in the basement under the stairs. OMG. Have they been reproducing like bunnies or something? There were HUNDREDS of bags. There were some bags from 20 + years ago when taking your own bag to the grocery store was very unusual. There were bags from holidays we have been on, bags with Canadian symbols on them, bags from Trader Joes (when it was fun to go into the USA for a visit). Some bags were very smelly from not being used in so long and some new ones that we purchased from Giant Tiger last week. BIG, small, smelly, old, new, Canadian, American, we had them all.
This photo is just some of them. We also have a collection in both our cars and I have some in my purse.
Lucky John was away so I went through all of them on my own (John hates getting rid of things as you may know. Have you seen his sunglass collection or his coat collection or his jean collection…and have you every seen John in jeans!!!). Some bags went straight to the garbage, some will be donated to the Whistle (our thrift shop in Deep River), some will be washed and most will be stored back under the stairs until they multiply and I have to cull them once more.
BTW - I did find just the right size of small bag that fit perfectly in my pannier. 😜
On another note, my biopsy results came in. My doctor called me, “Hey, this is Nathan”. At first I thought it was my financial advisor! “Got your results” and he then reads them off to me. It seems they didn’t get quite the cells they had hoped for, but enough to feel confident that it isn’t cancer. He will send the results to a gynaecologist to see what they say. I may need another biopsy. I am feeling hopeful that all is good.
