45 Years

45 years ago I said “Sure, why not”. 😜

June 22, 1981. We had a very small wedding. Just 4 people (which included us!)

We were married in the court house in Ottawa. It was a rainy day and I had to remind John to remove his boots for the ceremony. My friend Evelyn and John’s brother Bruce were the only people we invited. At that time my mother and I were not on good terms so we decided to keep it small and intimate…very small and intimate. I only have good memories of that day and would not change a thing about it, except to be on better terms with my mother of course.

John and I met at Algonquin College in September 1975. We were both enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program. I got to chatting with this strange fellow who rode his bike to the school on the sunny days and drove his MGB on the rainy ones. I could always tell if he had ridden his bike that day as his pants would be tucked into his socks…all day long. He offered to take me home in his red sports car one rainy day, and like they say, the rest is history.

I still remember the day the car “died”. We were returning from a drive in movie and the front axel cracked and we skidded along Baseline Road. I knew it was the end of the car but thought it might be the end of our relationship as well. 😉

I found this image on the internet. It brings back fond memories of this car.

This blog on my website is about my life, creativity and adventures and John and I have had many adventures over our 50+ years together but the best adventure has been with family. We are the proud parents to 3 wonderful sons, 2 lovely daughter-in-laws and 3 amazing grandchildren.

Our annual group photo that we take at our cottage.

I love to travel and John has indulged me. We have driven to Newfoundland and to British Columbia camping along the way. We have been north to La Ronge Saskatchewan and south to Belize. It took a while for John to get on an airplane with me but we were invited to a destination wedding in Mexico in 2013 and have been back to Mexico a few times since.

Here are some photos of the two of us on some of our adventures near and far over the years…in no particular order.

Just two loons hanging out together.

Let the adventures continue.
