The perfect winter’s day

Today was the perfect winter’s day — the kind of day that makes your cheeks all bright and rosy. The temperature hovered around -7°C, the sun was shining, the snow shadows were the perfect blue stripes that I teach in my watercolour class. There were deer footprints following the snowshoe path leading the way to our destination, the Babbling Brook. We got to the brook and listened to the water gurgling beneath its snowy blanket. I often daydream about palm trees and flip-flops, but then a day like this reminds me why Deep River is the perfect place to be. Five minutes away and I’m in a winter wonderland.
